Best of Interior Award 2020
Two designs by Kati Meyer-Brühl win awards
The sculptural sofa bongo bay and the multi-faceted armchair armand distinctively embody Kati Meyer-Brühl’s lively, imaginative design language. The innovative character of these two pieces managed to impress the expert jury in publishing house Callwey’s design competition. They were one of the thirteen award-winning product solutions of 2020.
As a real signature piece, bongo bay is truly exceptional: a strikingly expressive sofa with an organic, softly flowing silhouette that offers outstanding comfort. It is also very versatile in terms of combination options and surprisingly adaptable. In order to offer a particularly wide range of choices, bongo bay is available with a normal seat height, as a high-back version with adjustable back- and headrests and also in a compact version.
Armchair armand’s design is impressively multi-layered and well-thought-out. At the dining table, armand fulfils the function of a dining chair; next to a sofa, armand looks like an armchair as it is fabric-covered all-round. As armand’s dimensions are also compact and the chair is easy to move around, it can be used and combined with other pieces in many different ways. Optional castors make repositioning armand even easier.
The jury selected bongo bay and armand from a number of submissions by renowned interior designers and architects. The best submissions will be on show from 11 to 29 January 2021 in an exhibition at the Haus der Architektur in Munich. On 18 September 2020, Callwey has also published a “Best of Interior” annual featuring high-quality photographs of all award-winning designs. The book provides an extensive overview over the latest home styles.
